Hackensack Dentist
If you have dental-related questions, rather than searching online and getting virtually endless information that doesn’t apply to you, all the knowledge you need can be found right here, locally, at Anderson Dental Center! We’ve answered some of the most popular questions we receive below, but be sure to give us a call if you want to know more about anything we haven’t covered here.
Which is better: a manual or electric toothbrush?
In truth, both types of toothbrushes are excellent at removing harmful plaque and food particles from the teeth. The key is to brush at least twice a day for two minutes each! In most studies, however, electric brushes tend to provide the deeper clean, since the bristles move much faster than what a person can replicate.
How often should I visit the dentist?
At a minimum, at least twice a year for a checkup and cleaning. Beyond that, it’s wise to contact your dentist if you experience any out of the ordinary oral symptoms, like pain, swelling, or damage.
How long will it take to straighten my teeth?
There are a lot of factors that go into answering this question, such as the starting position of your teeth and what kind of treatment you choose (such as metal braces or Invisalign). The orthodontic process can be as short as 6 months and as long as 36 months in some cases. To get a more definitive answer, we recommend scheduling an in-person consultation!
Why do I need Professional Teeth cleanings if I brush my teeth?
Everyone has trouble spots in their mouth that their brush and floss simply can’t reach, and this can allow plaque and tartar to buildup and eventually cause cavities. But thanks to our hygienists’ professional instruments and training, they are able to identify these areas and target them so a patient’s mouth stays completely healthy year to year.
How long will it take to replace my teeth?
It depends on how many teeth you are missing, the current health of your mouth, and which prosthetic you choose (a bridge, denture, or implants). Many factors go into tooth replacement, and rather than giving you an estimate here, we can provide a more definitive timeline at an in-person consultation.
Will you take my dental insurance?
Most likely yes! Anderson Dental Center is in-network with several popular providers, and we’re happy to work with many out-of-network plans as well. Just give us a call, and we’ll go over your benefits with you so you can know how much you’ll save at your next visit.
