Understanding How
Dental Insurance Works

Dental insurance plans tend to divide treatments into (at least) three broad categories: preventive, restorative, and cosmetic. Preventive services, including checkups and cleanings, are often covered 80-100%. Fillings, crowns, bridges, and other restorative procedures are usually covered 50-80%, while cosmetic treatments are NOT covered because they are elective. Depending on your plan, you may also have benefits that can be applied to orthodontics, including both metal braces and Invisalign.

What Your Dental Insurance
Plan Covers

Expanding on everything we just discussed above, here are how some of the most common treatments fit into these categories:

  • Preventive: Checkups, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants
  • Restorative: Fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, root canals, extractions
  • Cosmetic: Veneers, whitening, bonding, gum recontouring, Botox/Juvederm

For most people, they should primarily use their insurance to pay for preventive services. This not only keeps care costs as low as possible, but these treatments also go a long way in stopping dental issues before they start, helping someone avoid the need for more extensive (and expensive) procedures.

Our In-Network PPO
Dental Insurance Providers

When we say that Anderson Dental Center is “in-network” with an insurance provider, this essentially means that we have a contract with them to offer our services for predetermined (usually discounted) fees. The provider then pays for all or part of these services, meaning by visiting an in-network dental office like us, you actually save money two different ways, which can quickly add up to hundreds or even thousands each year.

We proudly accept the following dental insurance plans:
